Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Christmas services and contributed to the celebration of the birth of Jesus. We were particularly grateful to St Martin's School who joined us for the Carol Service and the school choir who sung so well. The Midnight Mass service on Christmas Eve was also well attended. Thank you to those boosted the choir and also Hugh whose organ work and musical direction we simply could not do without.
Our Christmas collections go to Shelter and the St Martin-in-the-Fields Christmas appeal. Thanks to your generosity more than £600 was raised.
Sadly, earlier in December we lost Kathleen Trewhella. Although she lived in Kintbury she occasionally played the organ in St Martin’s when Hugh was away. The family organised a thanksgiving service for her life just before Christmas, led by Christine. The service was well attended, a lovely tribute to a wonderful person which showed just how much Kathleen was loved and respected by the community .
We are now into the new year and reverting to our standard service pattern. We welcome the Bishop of Basingstoke again on Sunday 15th when he takes our Evensong service at 6pm. So please join us!
