In this the 400th anniversary year of Shakespeare’s death, stylish vocal ensemble Stile Antico presents a beguiling selection of music inspired by the Bard, with works by his contemporaries, including Thomas Morley and Robert Johnson, alongside music connected to the great events of his lifetime. Completing this fascinating picture are brand-new settings of Shakespeare’s poetry by Nico Muhly and Huw Watkins, composed especially for Stile Antico.
Stile Antico’s expressive performance arises from a uniquely collaborative style of working; the members rehearse and perform as chamber musicians, each contributing artistically to the stunning musical results.
