Once again I had the pleasure and privilege of attending the St Martins School leavers service for the year 6 group who are about to move on to secondary school. This was a very special occasion during which each 11-year-old gave a short address followed by a reply by the headteacher, Mrs Katy Bartlett. It was evident from what was said that every single member of the group is well prepared for the next stage of their lives and we wish them all success and happiness.

This year’s service was particularly special as Mrs Bartlett is herself leaving in order to take up a position of Head of the Winklebury Federation of schools. We at St Martin's church are enormously grateful for everything Katy has done during her eight years as head of St Martin's School. We greatly value the link between the church and the school, particularly at our joint events such as the Christmas Carol and Mothering Sunday services. We shall miss Katy but are delighted that Mrs Mel Rennison is taking over as headteacher.

We wish Katy every happiness and success in her new role.
