Thank you to all those who made the supper on 3rd October at East Woodhay Village Hall such a happy occasion. More than eighty people attended, and we were all treated to sparkling wine on arrival, kindly donated by Toby Ward, and then delicious food prepared by a team of nine volunteer cooks, several of whom worked tirelessly in the kitchen to make sure everyone was served.
Special thanks to Fizz Catering Equipment Hire who lent us an extra warming cupboard to supplement the excellent facilities at the Village Hall.
Musical entertainment, which included several well-known Flanders and Swann songs, was provided by the St Martin’s choir, well supported by the audience when participation was required!
The evening also included a silent auction and we are very grateful to those individuals and businesses who donated items, including:
Lucy De Albuquerque, Julia Reis, The Jack Russell Inn, Tom Ward Racing, Kathryn Redway, JB Groundcare, Malverleys Farm and Dining, Cambrook Foods, Woolley Cameron, Zen Fitness, Kim Boreham, Savernake Game, Wellness Pilates, Yew Tree Garden Centre, Simon Bastable, Premium Tennis, Suzannah Burnham and Rob Burrow.
Thanks also go to the East Woodhay Silver Band who opened their car park across the road to provide extra capacity.
The next day we celebrated Harvest at a special festival service in church, led by Revd Lisa. The decorations were superb, as usual, prepared by members of our wonderful flower team pictured here in the porch, the display being typical of the many arrangements inside the church:
Then on 12th October I was privileged to attend the St Martin’s School harvest celebrations, introduced by Revd Lisa, comprising a mixture of readings, songs and prayer.
